5. LG Gram 15Z980
Most users search for 15-inch laptops because they are the middle ground for laptops and sit right in between portable 13-inches and large screen 17-inch laptops. One of the most notable options in this list is the LG Gram 15Z980, which is an exceptional laptop that comes with an ultra-lightweight and thin body. However, it is not just a pretty face, as this laptop packs plenty of features and performances, a great display, long-lasting battery life and attractive design that is extremely durable.
First off, I have to mention that the LG Gram 15Z980 is the lightest laptop in this category weighing just about 2.4-pounds in total, it is really a featherweight device, and on top of that it is also extremely thin, measuring just 0.7-inches at its thickest point, meaning that you will forget that you have packed it. It has a metal chassis though, making it extremely durable as it has passed various MIL-STD 810G military standard tests for durability, it can take everything and more. In addition to all this, it is extremely attractive with its dark grey body that is extremely gorgeous, and its clean lines and ultra-thin bezels just make it better.
The LG Gram 15Z980 is equipped with a 15.6-inch FUll HD resolution in-plane switching display, that delivers extremely pleasing visuals, and we know that LG is one of the best TV manufacturers and does its task beautifully. It can get extremely bright at 340 nits consistently throughout the screen and it managed to reproduce 99 percent of the sRGB and 78 percent of the Adobe RGB colour space, making it perfect for professionals.
This particular model is equipped with a power-efficient Kaby Lake R chipset and Intel Core i7- 8550U processor that is clocked at 1.8GHz on top of that it also has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD for fast booting times, and immense productivity and multi-tasking. In the graphics department, it has an integrated Intel UHD 620 GPU that is good for the purpose.
The battery life of the LG Gram 15Z980 is one of its most impressive parts, as its 72Wh Lithium battery and power-efficient parts make it last for about 16 hours of use without any problem, meaning that you can pack it to the office two days in a row without a charger, and it charges pretty fast as well.

4. MSI GS65 Stealth
For users that need a mighty beast coming out of their laptop, MSI delivers one of the best devices in the market, most notably its GS65 Stealth. Coming with a mighty performance, that is enough for every triple-A game and productivity, great battery life, amazing design and a pretty thin body for its performance, this laptop is a true workstation that will prove to be worthy.
The MSI GS65 Stealth is essentially a gaming laptop, and it is the thinnest gaming laptop so far, measuring just 24mm at its thickest point, and it weighs just 4.1-pounds. This results in a portable device, that is amazingly attractive, with its black body with gold lines that gives it a luxury feel. The lid of the device has a very smooth and refined finish, and on top of that, the MSI logo rests in the middle with a gold finish, a true work of art. The aforementioned gold design is also apparent on its hinges, and with that, it gives a premium and luxury feeling that is scarce in the gaming laptop industry.
This device packs a 15.6-inch 1920×1080 resolution thin-bezel display with Anti-glare coating 8ms input lag and a 240Hz refresh rate making it one of the best displays for gaming in a laptop. It also has very wide viewing angles and it delivers plenty of brightness and manages to reproduce about 150 percent of the sRGB colour gamut. It is worth mentioning that the speakers are extremely good as well, delivering plenty of bass and volume without any distortion. The keyboard was premium as well, delivering a great typing and gaming experience.
In the performance department, it is equipped with the 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750U CPU with a base clock speed of 2.6GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.5GHz. On top of that, it also has 32GB of RAM that can be upgraded up to 64GB, and 1TB of SSD making it capable of ploughing through any task. FOr its graphical prowess, it has a top of the line Nvidia GeForce RTX2080 graphics unit with 8GB of VRAM, making it capable of stunning visuals and even real-time ray tracing.
Adequate as a gaming laptop and workstation, this monster delivers, but it comes at a high-cost mind you.
3. Acer Nitro 5
One of my favorite laptops in this category is the Acer Nitro 5, delivering plenty of performance and features, and it shows that you don’t need to break the bank to play the latest AAA games. It has plenty of power, good battery life, nice gaming-focused design, and durability in its construction. On top of that, it delivers amazing value for its price and a gamer can’t really say no to this one.
The Acer Nitro 5 is a chunkier device measuring about an inch at its thickest point and it weighs about 5.4-pounds due to heat management. However, it will fit into your backpack without any problem, it has a pretty beautiful lid that has a brushed finish, making it pretty refined and sleek. On its hinges, it has a crimson red finish that goes great with the brushed finish on its lid, and compared to other gaming laptops it is pretty understated.
It is equipped with a 15.6-inch Full HD 1920x1080p in-plane switching display, making it perfect for gaming while also delivering great viewing angles. However, it is a little dim and has a poor colour reproduction, but for the price, it is pretty good. Moving on, its keyboard is pretty solid surprisingly, coming in with very snappy and springy keys, with nice travel and a good feeling overall.
I was not convinced with the gaming prowess of the Acer Nitro 5 when I looked at its specs, however, it was capable of running every triple-A game with the highest settings with 30 frames per second, which is pretty good. It is equipped with an Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD for storage. For the graphical prowess, it is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of VRAM delivering amazing performance perfect for gaming.
With a good battery life of about 7 hours of regular use, this laptop delivers more than you could wish for considering its price naturally.
2. Dell XPS 15
For creatives and graphic designers on the go, Dell has delivered a pretty capable device with the XPS 15 equipped with an ultra-capable display that suits the needs of professionals. On top of that it delivers great performance, value for its price, lightweight body, attractive design, 15-inch screen size, and a perfect package not just for creatives and content creators but everyone that wants to enjoy the finer things in life.
If you have seen its predecessor, this device looks exactly like it, with some slight changes to some details, some fine refinements that give it a whole new feeling. It has a CNC machined aluminium body that looks and feels premium, something that its predecessor lacked. The lid has a pretty smooth finish and has the new Dell logo on top of it which looks perfect in my opinion.
As I mentioned earlier the display on the Dell XPS 15 is perfect, coming in with a 15.6-inch 4K resolution InifinityEdge touchscreen panel, that is very responsive and capable of everything. It has a native resolution ratio of 100000:1, can get pretty bright at 400 nits, and can cover 100 percent of the Adobe RGB colour gamut, as well as the sRGB colour space. In addition to all this, it has a Corning Gorilla Glass on top of it for protection, and the visuals are delicious.

In addition to all this, it also has a great dedicated graphics unit, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti with 4GB of VRAM, making it capable of running productivity and creative tasks like a breeze, as well as triple-A games.
1. Microsoft Surface Book 2
Microsoft Surface Book 2 is one of my favorite laptops in the market in recent years, as it is extremely versatile thanks to its 2-in-1 nature and it has even won many industry awards. It has a large screen that is capable of amazing visuals, plenty of performance, great battery life, cooling prowess, and great for drawing thanks to its awesome pen that is included in the package. It is also pretty expensive, but if you can afford it, it is a joy to use and own.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 has a beautiful design, that was also used in its older model, and it is the most refined laptop I have ever seen. It has a magnesium construction, adding to its durability and through some testing, the body didn’t budge. This laptop doesn’t have hinges, instead, it employs the “muscle wire” mechanism, that works smoothly with the detachable display. It is also pretty good in terms of weighs and thickness for being a 2-in-1, as it measures just 0.9-inches at its thickest and just 4.2-pounds heavy.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is equipped with a 15-inch touch-capacitive Vibrant Pixel Sense display with a resolution of 3240×2160 resulting in 260 pixels per inch, in a 3:2 aspect ratio. It has a brightness of about 428nits at max, and a contrast ratio of 1460:1, resulting in a very vibrant screen with perfect colours that pop around, perfect blacks that are inky and amazing viewing angles.
The drawing performance is perfect with the Surface Pen is excellent, and the keyboard is pretty good for typing in general and it delivers a satisfying tactile response. The touchpad is also excellent, and it supports all the Windows gestures as well as its precision drivers.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 packs an Intel i7-8650U quad-core CPU with a boost clock speed of 4.2GHz coupled with 16GB of RAM 1TB of storage and an Nvidia GeForce GTX GPU with 6GB of VRAM, making it capable of everything for productivity, and even for gaming which I didn’t really expect from this laptop.
The battery life of this laptop is the best in the market as it can run for about 18 hours with medium use without needing a recharge, something very surprising in laptop let alone a 2-in-1.
