5. Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2
There are tons of laptops in the 8-inch screen size category, and not all of them are created equal, and that is why I have compiled a list today that will tell you the 5 best ones that deliver excellent value and performance for their prices. One of the most notable models is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2, which is also one of the most durable devices on the market, as it has military-grade durability and sturdiness, this device can take plenty of beating, and it is the best choice for kids and people with very active jobs. This device also has plenty of performance to back that durability off, and overall it is an excellent tablet. Without further ado, let’s take a closer look.
This Samsung tablet is designed with functionality in mind, and it is very apparent with all of its details. The back panel of the device is removable to my surprise, and the outer cover is extremely protective against drops and delivers plenty of grips. The company has marketed the body of this device as ruggedized, and it surely is, but a little chunky. Overall it is still slim enough for one-hand use, and on the bottom bezel you will locate physical buttons for navigation, which are obsolete in modern devices, but in this concept they are acceptable. The touchscreen sensitivity is boosted for use even with dirty hands or with gloves, and the buttons help with the case. In the package of the device, you get a water-resistant S Pen as well, and the device is IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certified so you can stay assured for its durability.
On the front, you will find the good 8-inch display, but for its price and Samsung standards, it was lacklustre. But then again this machine puts functionality first, and it looks pretty professional overall and the viewing experience is solid. This display offers a resolution of 1280×800 and will deliver tremendous amounts of the brightness of 500 nits making it functional even under direct sunlight.
In the performance department, it is packed with an Exynos 7870 processor which is not the best choice for gaming. However, for productivity and other activities, it is great, coupled with its 3GB of RAM. The main reason that CPU was chosen for this tablet is its low power consumption and combined with its 4450mAh cell, the battery can last for more than three days with normal use. However, if you need more than that you can buy a spare battery and swap it on the road, thanks to its removable back panel.
An ultra-durable device delivering performance to back it all off, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2 delivers.

It is worth mentioning its practical body that is very easy to use, on top of all that the device is just 8mm thick. On the front hand side, the screen is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 and the back is made out of plastic, however, it delivers plenty of durabilities and the whole body feels like a high-quality device.
This device delivers an 8-inch in-plane switching display with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and it delivers an HD resolution of 1280×800, for today’s standards this resolution might be low, however, for this 8-inch device it is excellent and it delivers excellent viewing angles. The viewing experience is pretty good overall and the whole ordeal was pretty pleasant and smooth, the sound was also exemplary for a tablet this size.
In the performance department, it is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Quad-Core CPU with a base clock speed of 1.4GHz and on top of that, you get 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. These performances make this tablet a steady performer for everyday tasks, while they can’t push through demanding games, it can get plenty of work done in no time.
This tablet comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery that delivers about 14 hours in continuous use over WiFi and 50percent brightness, this means that it is pretty good. It also recharges extremely fast and overall this tablet delivers plenty of value for its price.

It comes with an 8-inch ultra amazing screen, with plenty of performances under the hood, great battery life and tons of features that will make this laptop very attractive, since it is the same tablet as its 10-inch sibling.
In the design department, this device features a pretty simple and minimalistic one, and some might consider it bland and boring. Since it has an all-black body with its curved edges and medium-sized bezels, very utilitarian, however, the device is very easy to hold even for longer periods. This device measures 8.3×0.3×4.9-inches in total and weighs less than a pound. It is also worth mentioning the sound quality of the device as it is excellent and the durability is great.
The biggest selling point of Lenovo Tab 4 is an amazing 8-inch display with an HD resolution of 1280×800, which isn’t superior to the high-end models, however, it brings amazing qualities for its price. Normally you would have to spend a lot more to get this kind of screen with amazing sharpness, the brightness of 307nits and colour reproduction of about 90 per cent of the sRGB colour space. The viewing experience is just amazing and it is one of the best in this category. It is also worth mentioning that this tablet is equipped with Dolby Atmos Surround speakers, that don’t surround quality to be precise but get pretty close.

2. Huawei MediaPad M5
The Chinese giant Huawei is on its way to become the biggest tech manufacturer in the market since it is already the second-largest phone manufacturer and the third biggest tablet company in the market. It has achieved this with its amazing technological prowess and the Huawei MediaPad M5 is one of the best premium tablets in the market, and it is well worth its high-end price tag.
This device rocks some very aesthetically pleasing looks, made out of glass and metal on its medium-sized body. It is a pretty minimalistic and very traditional tablet, but pretty refined overall. On the front, you will spot the screen, the front camera, the Huawei log and the fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the device. It has curved glass along the edges that connect to the metal part of this tablet and it looks very nice overall. In terms of ports and connectivity it comes with USB Type-C port, however, it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack that would be nice to have. On the back, you will spot the camera lens, which looks a little strange, but apart from that everything looks perfect with this device.
One of the biggest selling points of this tablet is its beautiful 8.4-inch sharp screen with 2560×1600 resolution resulting in 359 pixels per inch. The in-plane switching screen delivers amazing viewing angles and great brightness levels, and to my surprise, you could change the colour balance controls in the settings menu. With the Vivid mode, you can enhance the saturation and colours to result in an AMOLED like vibrancy.
In the performance department, it is packed with an octa-core Kirin 960 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. With these specs, this tablet is more than capable of destroying the competition, and it is pretty surprising to see that much power packed in such a small device. It is coupled with a huge 7500mAh battery which delivers screen time for days.
One of the best Huawei delivers without skipping a beat.

It has an amazing screen, beautiful iconic design, plenty of performance, fingerprint scanner and many more features just from Apple’s ecosystem.
In the design department, this device hasn’t made a lot of upgrades, but it isn’t needed since the design is iconic and always a fan favourite. It still rocks the curved edges and the ceramic looking back panel, however, this device is a little thinner than its competition and slightly lighter than it weighing 299 grams in total, meaning that you can put it in your jacket pocket or your backpack with ease. In its category, you cannot find a better designed and more premium tablet than the Apple iPad mini 4, also it is extremely durable.
The biggest improvement of the Apple iPad mini 4 is its amazing 7.9-inch Retina display. This small screen packs a resolution of 2048×1536, delivering amazing sharpness and clarity to the image. The brightness is also amazing achieving a maximum of 440nits on average and the contrast is also excellent since it delivers 1000:1, this display delivers perfect colours as it managed to reproduce about 101 percent of the sRGB colour gamut with perfect accuracy. The viewing experience is simply amazing, and if you want to binge-watch your shows this is your best bet.
For performance this tablet is equipped with an A8 SoC with 64-bit architecture, that is only used on PCs. This chipset makes this tablet pretty speedy for productivity tasks and it can even run games without any problem. What surprised me the most about this device was that it portrayed a very similar performance to the iPad Pro, which is the flagship device. The battery life of this small beast is about 10 hours with continuous use, while it can get longer if you keep the brightness at low even at max settings things are pretty good.
