Which Is The Best Laptop For Medical Students?
5. Acer Aspire 5 Slim
College students need to have a laptop in their arsenals to keep up with the projects, tasks, leisure, and various other uses. A laptop for college must have some set features to be appropriate for students, as it needs to be a little more portable, powerful enough to get through productivity tasks, attractive design, and so much more. The definite best budget laptop when it comes to college-goers is the Acer Aspire 5 Slim. This laptop has an attractive lightweight design, solid battery life, an affordable price and is packed with excellent value-based performance parts that deliver great bang for your buck.
Despite being an affordable and a value model, the Acer Aspire 5 Slim looks pretty impressive and attractive, however, upon closer inspection, you will see that the body is made out of plastic. The plastic body is covered with a beautiful brushed metal look to give it a premium look though, and this makes it stand apart from its competition, in addition to that this laptop is also pretty thin and portable as its name implies. In the connectivity department, you are faced with an Ethernet port, HDMI port, headphone jack, and three USB ports to complete the package.
The Acer Aspire 5 Slim is equipped with a nice 15.6-inch in-plane switching display with Full HD resolution which is a great improvement over the majority of budget laptops that use 720p Twisted Nematic panels. The colors on this screen looked marvelous and the screen delivered plenty of brightness and visibility, the viewing angles were also great. In addition to all this, the anti-glare ComfyView design did a great job of repelling any distracting reflections that may ruin his viewing experience.
In the performance department, the Acer Aspire 5 Slim continued to amaze me with its AMD Ryzen 3 3200U CPU, with Vega 3 integrated graphics on top of it to deliver a great experience. It was also equipped with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD to deliver fast booting times and overall faster experience, productivity and multitasking are perfect in this laptop.
The battery life of the laptop was perfect as well and it delivered a great performance all day long with medium usage, and it didn’t drop down even in heavy use.
One of the best affordable laptops in the market.
4. LG Gram 13
If you want an ultra-portable laptop to finish up your tasks in college, but also want a marathoner battery life, you have to check out the LG Gram 13, the 2019 edition. This small laptop delivers amazing performance, a wide set of features, amazing build quality, great battery life, touchscreen display, attractive design and so much more all under the same package.
In the design department, the LG Gram 13 has a pretty clean and modest design, with its attractive silver chassis, which is also amazingly durable and super sturdy. On the other hand, this beast of a laptop is very compact and portable thanks to its lightweight body that you can carry with one hand as it weighs just about 2.1-pounds in total, marvelous. In the connectivity department, this laptop has a lot despite being a small device, as it has a micro SD port two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, an Ethernet port, HDMI port, a DC input, and a 3.5mm audio jack to complete the package.
The keyboard of this tiny monster is a backlit one that is extremely comfortable to type on and delivers a decent key travel with some kind of tactile feedback to it, as I didn’t feel that it decreased my speed despite its small size. The touchpad, on the other hand, was good as well, and it supported all Windows gestures.
In the performance department, the LG Gram 13 is equipped with an Intel Core i5 8265U processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage to deliver great performance. This laptop can get through every productivity task you may think of and it is one of the best you can choose at this size.
On top of everything that we talked about today the 13.5-inch in-plane switching touchscreen panel of the LG Gram 13 is amazing with its 1920×1080 resolution. This panel delivers amazing vibrancy and contrast, with some great accuracy in terms of colors.
The battery life on this product is perfect, and it is its biggest selling point, as you can get 12 hours of use with a single charge with continuous use, and with different tests, some users revealed that with lighter use it can go as long as 22 hours.
3. ASUS VivoBook F510UA
If I had the limited budget and could buy one all-around laptop for everything I would opt for the ASUS VivoBook F510UA. This laptop is one of the best laptops in the market coming with great performance specs, beautiful and lightweight bodies, great display and tons of other features. While it is not as powerful or polished in the performance specs as a high-end laptop it will get plenty of jobs done in no time.
I am going to start by saying that the ASUS VivoBook F510UA weighs just 3.7-pounds and it will fit into most laptop or college backpacks as it measures just 0.8-inches thick at its thickest point. This laptop comes as a beautifully designed package with its amazing textured brushed aluminum lid that looks amazing, despite being made out of plastic, really one of the most attractive packages on the market. In the connectivity department, this laptop is equipped with both USB type A and Type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, an SD card slot, and an HDMI port, but no Ethernet was present. However, the wireless connectivity was amazing thanks to the 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection, and there is an m.2 2280 slot in case you want to upgrade to an SSD storage.
The ASUS VivoBook F510UA is equipped with a 15.6-inch in-plane switching panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 to deliver a great viewing experience with solid colors and a sharp image overall, the colors were pretty accurate as well and I can’t realistically complain about this amazing panel. The keyboard was perfect as well without any weak point, except that it was a little shallow compared to a normal keyboard.
The ASUS VivoBook F510UA is equipped with great performance specs, including an Intel Core i58250U CPU with a base clock speed of 1.6GHz and a turbo of up to 3.4GHz, and it also has 8GB of RAM and 1TB of HDD for storage. As for the graphics it just has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated unit, but overall the performance was super solid and without any weaknesses, except that it can’t handle triple-A gaming.
2. Microsoft Surface Book 2
For a long time, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 has been one of my favorite laptops in the market, since it has delivered some interesting qualities to the laptop market, especially to the 2-in-1 market, as it is a true 2-in-1. This 13.5-inch laptop delivers amazing performance specs with plenty of power, fanless design, great use as a tablet, and solid battery life to result in one of the best packages ever produced.
If you have seen the legacy Surface Book you will not notice any significant differences here, except that the device is thinner and a little lighter overall, and of course, this version of the device is fanless. That means that the device is practically silent in operation unlike 99% percent of the laptops in the market. The biggest design trick fo this laptop is its ‘hinge’ that allows you to detach the screen from the main body and operate it as a table and it operates amazingly in the tablet mode, really intuitive and convenient. In the connectivity department, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 has two USB 3.1 ports, a USB Type-C port, an SD card slot, and the 3.5mm audio port.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 has a 13.5-inch PixelSense display which is beautiful and has a resolution of 3,000×2,000 resulting in 267 pixels per inch density on its 3:2 aspect ratio. On top of that, this panel has a great contrast of 1,600:1 delivering super deep blacks and great viewing experience, it also got pretty bright at 380 nits and managed to reproduce about 130 percent of the sRGB color gamut, which is amazing.
In the performance department, this laptop is also amazing thanks to its Intel Core i7-8650U CPU with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD, delivering great productivity prowess and you really wouldn’t expect this kind of performance from a small package like this with a fanless design. On top of that, it has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics unit with 2GB of dedicated VRAM, and it delivered a great experience overall, I experienced no lag whatsoever and it was great in benchmark tests.
The battery life of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is perfect as well as it could pump out about 13 hours of continuous web browsing before it needed a recharge.
One of the best laptops in the market without any doubt, especially for students.
1. MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-051
Coming to the top of the list we have an ultra-powerful laptop that can get through everything from multi-tasking, to video editing to triple-A gaming, the MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-051. While there are a lot of powerful laptops in the market, none is thinner than the MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-051 which measures just an inch at its thickest point, and when you consider its specs it just gets better and more impressive. It also weighs just 4.1-pounds in total and it is very attractive with its black-and-gold color scheme, that was present in its older sibling, it is truly a premium device with a smooth finish on its lid that feels luxurious and minimal.
The MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-051 has a beautiful 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 and a solid refresh rate of 144Hz. The colors are beautiful on this panel as it managed to reproduce 150 percent of the sRGB color gamut, and the sharpness is great as well. The brightness is not its strongest point at just 300 nits, but overall the viewing experience was great.
This laptop shines in the performance department as it is equipped with an amazing 8th generation Coffee Lake six-core CPU, the Intel Core i78750H with a boost clock speed of 3.9GHz. On top of all this has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, making it possible to tackle any productivity and multi-tasking you may think of. The MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-051 has also plenty of graphical prowess under its hood as it is packed with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics unit with 6GB of dedicated VRAM to result in a super powerful package.
