Long gone are the days where everyone would buy traditional laptops. The new trend is touchscreen laptops which can be used as tablets and more. I decided to review the 5 best touchscreen laptops out there. Let’s take a look at them!
Which Is The Best Touchscreen Laptop?
5. Samsung Chromebook Pro
Since the advancements of smartphones more and more users are looking for familiar features in laptops as well, most notably touch screen displays which make everything much more convenient and intuitive especially for multi-tasking and creative work. If you want an affordable touchscreen laptop I would recommend the Samsung Chromebook Pro. This device may be a Chromebook but it delivers some excellent features combined with Samsung, such as its amazing touchscreen display, good performance specs and a nice overall package for productivity. Without further ado, let’s take a closer look.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro has a premium design, since it has an all-metal construction all over its body, and it is super portable despite all that. This laptop measures about 0.55-inches at its thickest point and weighs a lightweight 2.38-pounds in total, and on top of all that it is very durable thanks to its aluminum construction that makes it very durable overall. However, like every Samsung device nothing less of excellence is accepted.
On the front, the Samsung Chromebook Pro is packed with a 12.3-inch 2400×1600 touchscreen LED-backlit panel, which delivered excellent sharpness and vibrant colors that were super impressive especially at the price range. The tests showed us the same thing, as it managed to reproduce about 118 percent of the sRGB color space with a Delta E score of 1 which is marvelous. It also got pretty bright, compared to its competitors at 380 nits at maximum, great viewing experience overall.
I didn’t expect the keyboard of the Samsung Chromebook Pro to be anything pleasing but they had plenty of key travel and a good actuation force that delivered spring action. It also comes with the Samsung S Pen stylus which will become very handy for productivity and design.
In the performance department, the Samsung Chromebook Pro was pretty powerful for its nature as it was equipped with an Intel Core M3-6Y30 CPU with a clock speed of 2.2GHz. On top of that, it had 4GB of RAM and 32GB of HDD for memory, which was decent overall. I can say that this is one of the most capable productivity tools in the market and the battery life just made things better as it could last about 8 hours in a single charge under moderate use.
An excellent touchscreen laptop at the bottom of the price range, but the best in its category without a doubt.
4. Lenovo Yoga 720
Next up we have the Lenovo Yoga 720 which delivers some mighty specs and a perfect display which is super impressive especially for its asking price, solidifying its place as a perfect value model touchscreen laptop. On top of that this laptop delivers amazing performance for both gaming and productivity, great battery life, amazing audio performance, and a superb overall package that will satisfy every user. Let’s take a closer look.
The Lenovo Yoga 720 is built for comfort and functionality, and while it doesn’t have any super aesthetical details or interesting design tricks, I am pleased with it overall. It has a pretty professional build with its aluminum lid and dark silver gunmetal finish on it that gives it a premium look. The display has super slim bezels overall and an island-style keyboard is on the aluminum deck with the same finish as on the lid.
The device measures just 0.8-inches at its thickest point and weighs about 4.6-pounds, making it a pretty portable tool. However, it doesn’t have plenty of connectivity options, just two USB ports, a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, and a Thunderbolt 3 port.
The Lenovo Yoga 720 is equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen in-plane switching panel with a 4K native resolution of 3840×2160, delivering a superb amount of sharpness and detail retention. On top of that, the brightness was also pretty good at 300 nits at peak, going along with the 1066:1 contrast ratio. It also managed to deliver some amazing colors as it reproduced about 99 percent of the sRGB color space with a delta E rating of 1.5, meaning that it will deliver some great visuals overall.
In terms of performance and power, the Lenovo Yoga 720 is no slouch as it has an Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor in its arsenal that delivers a Max boost speed of up to 3.8-GHz. On top of that, it also has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD for productivity and snappiness for various tasks. But that is not all as this laptop also has a discrete graphics unit, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 unit with 2GB of dedicated VRAM to deliver the best performance for both gaming and productivity.
If you want to get the most bang for your buck the Lenovo Yoga 720 is your best bet.
3. Razer Blade 15 Studio
Next up we have the most powerful touchscreen laptop, the Razer Blade 15 Studio it is a shame calling this one a laptop since it is equipped like a mobile workstation with its powerful performance specs, amazing display, security features, beautiful design and so much more. However, this is a very high-end choice, costing double the price of some of the laptops in this list, but if you can afford it and need such amount of power it is your best choice. Let’s see what else this workstation offers.
First off we have to talk about the beautiful design of the Razer Blade 15 Studio, one of the best looking laptops in the market, without a doubt. It is constructed with CNC machined aluminum on its unibody design and has a Mercury White finish on top of it which looks super high end, and the glossy Razer logo just adds to the design.
Thanks to the gaming roots of Razer it also has per-key RGB backlighting that makes things much better in terms of aesthetics. I should also state that this model is just 0.7-inches thick and weighs 4.8-pounds, which is super lightweight especially for its specs. In terms of connectivity, it has some good options including three USB 3.2 ports, a headphone jack, a Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, a Thunderbolt 3 port and an SD card reader to top it off.
Upfront the Razer Blade 15 Studio is furnished with a 15.6-inch touchscreen OLED display with a native 4K resolution of 3840×2160 delivering superb details which are eye-catching, just beautiful. Thanks to its OLED nature it delivered a perfect contrast of 24,000:1 and a brightness of 370 nits at peak. Moving on it has superb color reproduction as it managed to reproduce 218 percent of the sRGB, 90 percent of the AdobeRGB and 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space which makes it perfect for the viewing experience and also makes itself a great tool for creative professionals.
As you might expect the Razer Blade 15 Studio is super powerful. First, off it has an Intel Core i7-9750H CPU with six-cores and a boost clock speed of 4.5GHz on top of that it has also 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD to make it a super-fast machine. Moving on it has also a workstation-grade graphics unit, the Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 GPU with 16GB of VRAM to deliver one of the best graphical performances I have seen on a laptop.
This amount of power will be enough for even the most demanding apps, and it will also run every game at the highest settings on 4K with super high refresh rates.
2. Microsoft Surface Book 2
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is one of my favorite laptops in this category because it has been one of the most unique laptops in the market, it truly is the definite best 2-in-1 and one of the most versatile packages in the market. This touchscreen laptop comes with a beautiful design, battery life for ages might get you through anything, and superb fanless cooling design that makes this one a special laptop.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 in terms of looks and feel is pretty much perfect with the brushed aluminum finish on its perfect construction. This 15-inch laptop looks perfect with its clean white color and it defines what premium should look like. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is packed with a fulcrum hinge that makes it a little bit thicker than most laptops, however, that is needed for its unique feature as this laptop can work as a traditional laptop and you can also detach its screen and operate with it as a standalone tablet.
Moving on the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is packed with a 15-inch touchscreen PixelSense panel with a resolution of 3240×2160 with its trademark 3:2 aspect ratio, delivering superb details. The maximum average brightness of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is about 444 nits at peak and a great contrast ratio of 1800:1 delivering inky deep blacks and all. This panel also delivered amazing colors as it managed to reproduce about 99 percent of the sRGB color space. However, the main feature of this panel is that it is a perfect tablet that has its own graphics unit inside running perfectly.
In the performance aspect, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also very powerful as I told you, it is fitted with the 8th Gen Intel Quad Core i7-8650U processor with the Kaby Lake R chip, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD to deliver plenty of power. It also can handle gaming quite adequately with its discrete graphics unit, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with 6GB of dedicated RAM.
1. Asus ZenBook Pro Duo
On top of the list, we have the definite best touchscreen laptop and the most fascinating and interesting one, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo. If you know Asus’ ZenBook series you probably know that they are capable machines, but this time around with the Pro Duo, the company has outdone themselves. The most interesting thing about this is that it packs The ScreenPad Plus which is another display that rests on top of your keyboard, also it has amazing build quality, has tons of power for its price and is a great product overall.
While unboxing the device I noticed that it is a pretty hefty and thick device, not your average ultraportable, but it will be all worth it. It is has a superb build quality thanks to its strong aluminum construction with the Celestial Blue finish that makes this device look perfect overall. Once you open up the lid you will see that it has an ErgoLift hinge that raises the keyboard to a nice 4.5degree angle that is great for typing as well as for the viewing experience.
However, it is still a thin laptop as it measures just 0.9-inches at its thickest and weighs about 5.4-pounds in total. It has tons of ports as well, two USB Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI 2.0 port, and a DC-in port.
The main display of the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo is a 15.6-inch touchscreen OLED panel with a 4K resolution of 3840×2160 which delivers superb sharpness. It also got super bright at 322 at peak and delivered a color reproduction of 203 percent in the sRGB and 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut establishing itself as a premium designer tool.
Moving on the ScreenPad Plus had a matte finish and not an OLED display but it delivered a perfect resolution of 3840×1100, 290 nits of peak brightness and 108 percent of the sRGB color space. With these two panels, you can get creative and utilize them however you want, just amazing in every aspect.
With the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo, you also get tons of power as it is packed with the 9th gen Intel Core i9-9980HK with a boost clock speed of 5GHz. It also has 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD, but without forgetting I should announce the show stopper, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU with 6GB of dedicated VRAM to deliver everything you may need.
Power, portability, versatility, gaming, productivity, creative prowess and tons of value, all in a single package. Definitely one of the best touchscreen laptops out there.
