Which Is The Best Wireless Security Camera?
5. Amazon Cloud Cam
In my honest opinion, I think that everybody should invest in a security camera, regardless of where. Especially for your home or apartment, since we spend most of our time away from our living spaces, and now it is very easy and affordable to install one. There are a multitude of choices in the market from a wide range of manufacturers, and one of the most popular among those in the Amazon Cloud Cam, and it is definitely one of the best indoor cameras in the market. It is very easy to install, will blend in with modern designs, will fit right in with your other smart home devices, especially Amazon ones, and will deliver plenty of useful features that will please you.
Design-wise the Amazon Cloud Cam is not very notable or eye-catching, as it rocks the classic security camera design, with its cylindrical body that has a 2.4-inch diameter with the large lens in the middle of it all. The device sports an all-white design all over its body except the black lens and the Amazon logo. I like these non-intimidating and understated designs better for security cameras, and in this nice package, you will get a 10 feet USB cable for powering the device, and no other cables since it has a wireless connection.
The Amazon Cloud Cam may be affordable when you compare it with other high-end security cameras, however, quality and function wise it is up there with the best. It captures footage of 1080p at 30 frames per second, with a diagonal 120-degree field of view. It is capable of portraying any detail, in both recorded and live footage, delivering plenty of sharpness. It delivers a great night mode performance, thanks to its eight infrared LED lights, that delivered a better than its competitors surprisingly, however, it lacked in the colours department, but it was still capable.
It has a great smartphone companion app that is essential, and it lets you change every setting quickly, like motion detection and notification. On top of that, you get geofencing features that will turn the camera on or off depending on your location, and you also are able to select specific zones in its field of view to mute them.
One of the best wireless security cameras you can get, its popularity speaks for itself.
4. Wyze Cam Pan
Most of us just want a cheap device that can get the job done, and are not inclined to spend more than we absolutely have to. If you fit the description, the Wyze Cam Pan is the perfect tool for you. However, this device delivers plenty of functionalities and features that are apparent in the high-end models, and it is also the most popular home security camera in Amazon with more than 5000 reviews. It brings excellent video and sound quality, IFTTT automation, smoke and carbon monoxide alerts, and tons of other features that you would not expect in a budget device.
Despite most of the security cameras options for similar designs, the Wyze Cam Pan breaks the mould. It has a long rectangular shape that measures 5x2x2-inches in total, it has an all-white body except for the black lens, and it is constructed from plastic. There is a 2-inch disk on the bottom of the device that lets you pan the camera in a full circle, as its name suggests. It also can pan automatically when it detects motion, a nice feature to have. The lens also can tilt horizontally and vertically in a 93-degree range, and on the device, you will spot an LED indicator that tells you valuable info about the device’s status.
On the rear panel of the device, you will spot a USB port, and on the bottom, you will also spot the micro USB power port, micro SD slot, the setup button, and a microphone. With the camera, in its package, you will see a 6 foot USB cable for powering it up and a power adapter for plugging it directly into a power socket.
The Wyze Cam Pan is also one of the most feature-rich devices in the market, coming in equipped with motion, sound, smoke and CO level detection, complete with the alerts. On top of this, it has motion tracking and time-lapse recording, which the latter creates perfect footage. You can store your footage in an SD card, or you can use the 14 days of cloud storage, that can be upgraded with a paid subscription.
With 1080p resolution with 15 frames per second, and a wide field of view of 120 degrees, combined with its great night mode, this camera delivers excellent footage, that will give you peace of mind.
3. Reolink Argus 2
The Reolink Argus 2 is a pretty interesting security camera for your home or workplace, as it is one of the few completely wireless devices. It delivers excellent functionality, extremely sharp video, solar-powered battery, easy installation, capable sensor, weatherproof construction, and many more useful features. For the price, it delivers plenty of value.
If you have seen the first Argus, you will instantly recognize this camera, as it has adopted the same design. With its trademark pill shape, with a white body and its black lens compartment that measures 4.6×2.5×2.3-inches in total, this camera looks pretty good. It is completely waterproof with an IP65 rating and has a built-in magnet that attaches instantly to the metal mounting base, but you won’t need to remove it if you install it outdoors, thanks to its solar recharging panel that is also waterproof. On the right-hand side of the camera, you will also find a microSD port and a reset button, and you can choose to record locally on your SD card, or in the cloud storage which is fully encrypted and amazing.
This device utilizes a Sony Starlight CMOS 2MP sensor that captures amazing footage at 1080p with 15 frames per second and has a great field of view of 130-degrees. For night mode it utilizes seven infrared LED lights to deliver amazing black and white footage in high quality up to the 33-feet distance. You can also choose coloured night mode, but the sharpness decreases in this mode. In addition to all this, the Reolink Argus 2 is equipped with a microphone and speaker to deliver 2-way audio, and it is also equipped with a passive infrared motion sensor.
One of the most interesting features was its internal siren alarm that is pretty loud at 80deciBells. It has amazing connectivity at 2.4GHz and you can access your footage via the Reolink Companion app which is extremely easy to use and will provide plenty of use.
In practical testing, I noticed that the footage was extremely sharp in the day time and everything was recognizable, faces and colours were pretty clear, as well as the sound and spoken words. In night mode you get plenty of sharpness in black and white mode, and taking everything into consideration, this is one of the best cameras in the market.
2. Blink XT
Most people aren’t inclined to DIY work and for those that lack the skill, you either need to call a professional to do the work, or you can opt for an extremely simple option as the Blink XT, which is one of the best outdoor cameras that can be attached anywhere. On top of that this device is fully wireless, excellent night vision, weatherproofed, motion detection, has cloud storage, great footage and many more.
This security camera looks more like a GoPro action camera, than a normal security camera, however, it packs a whole set of nice features in its small body. It has a matte black rectangular design that measures 2.75×2.75×0.9-inches in total and has the lens glossy lens compartment on its body. This camera works with two AA batteries that are included in the box and will deliver you a battery life of about 2 years. However, you can also power the device with the micro USB cable. It has a waterproof rating of IP65 so you can comfortably use it outside. You also get a sync module with the device, that can sync up to 16 cameras in the same module, so you get the perfect surveillance of your home, more than 150 feet away.
The Blink XT utilizes a glass lens that captures HD footage at 1080p with a field of view of 110-degrees, which is not the most excellent. The quality of the footage recorded was excellent in my opinion and you can notice details without any difficulty in daylight. However, its night mode was not very capable of outdoors as the objects were not as recognizable as most would have preferred to be. The audio quality was excellent and I was extremely impressed with the sound clarity, but there is no two-way audio.
The motion detection and temperature detection features worked extremely well and you can configure any way you want. You can even connect your camera with your thermostat for an IFTTT control.
1. Arlo Pro 2
Netgear’s Arlo has risen to prominence with its excellent security cameras that are top of the line and deliver excellent functionality and features. The Arlo Pro 2 is no different as it does everything perfectly. It is a little expensive, but it is worth every single cent of its price, as it has improved everything from its predecessor and solidifies its spot as the best surveillance system in the market.
The Arlo Pro 2 utilizes a base station, like the module station on the Blink XT, which has some great advantages, such as the better wireless connection that is more secure and it channels the signal straight to your cameras, to get the best bandwidth and connectivity. Thanks to that the battery life of the device is improved remarkably from its predecessor, as it lasts for more than six months before giving up. The most notable feature of the base is that it has an extremely loud alarm, outputting 120deciBells alarm, to deter burglars or other people that may harm your property.
The Arlo Pro 2 has a great set of features that are present in all the aforementioned devices, such as motion and sound detection, night vision, two-way audio, and all that jazz. However, on top of that, it also has the addition of interesting features like geofencing and scheduling to have a pretty personal system fitting perfectly your needs. While some systems have those features incorporated, the Arlo Pro 2 does it perfectly, very seamless and smooth. The brightness slider is also very useful for getting the best footage from the camera, coupled with those interesting features, this gives the Arlo Pro 2 a slight learning curve that you have to take, however, once you get the hang of it you will be more than happy for them.
Its incredible lens delivers incredible footage of 1080p at Full HD, it has 7 days of free cloud storage which can be expanded further with a paid subscription. The definite best footage you can get from a security camera, the Arlo Pro 2 is the best of the best.
